Empathy 

I once watched a Walmart manager force a homeless man out into freezing weather. The guy only wanted a bench to sleep on somewhere he knew he wouldn’t freeze to death. And I’m certain he knew that wasn’t a guarantee. Specifically in that Walmart or at all that night. It was also about 1AM and the homeless guy wasn’t even going to be noticed by much of anyone but employees. 
And that was my Walmart manager so I knew he was a pretty good guy if a hardas. And I still have no idea why he did that to a helpless person. 
Look at people no one wants to. Even if it hurts you to do it.
